Okanagan Mainline Minor Hockey Association:
Scholarship info and applications are on the OMAHA website. Deadline for submission April 30th
BC Hockey Officiating School. OMAHA will sponsor three candidates. Please contact Rob Bushell, Referee-in-Chief, and indicate you wish to be considered to be nominated to
attend Referee School in Osoyoos. Deadline March 15
Association of the Year: Send submissions and write to OMAHA administrator by March 15th.
Koteles Award for strong commitment to community service. Either team or player in each division Pee Wee and up. Deadline March 15
Margie Moss Award to MVP in either Female Rep or Rec. Each team to submit to OMAHA. Deadline March 15
Allan Philcox Award to Most Sportsmanlike team in Bantam Rep. No nominations required.
John Boscha Award to MVP in midget rep. Each team to submit one name to OMAHA. Voting to take place after.  Deadline Jan. 15.

Salmon Arm Minor Hockey Association

2017/18 Award Winners

Awards Criteria for Minor Hockey:
Salmon Arm Minor Hockey Association will present annual awards to all recreation and rep teams.
- Most Dedicated Player
- Most Improved Player
- Most Sportsmanlike Player

The deserving players will be presented with an annual trophy as well as an Esso medal at the Awards Ceremonies held in April.

Selection Process:
The division managers of S.A.M.H.A. will contact all head coaches/managers and obtain names. These will be forwarded to the administrator for engraving purposes by March 1st.  The directors will contact all winners and the administrator will contact all adult award winners and trophy presenters after season officially ends. (March 16)  Head coach or designate will present medals and trophies at Awards Night.

There should be one individual winner per team. The President or designate will approve the final selections if necessary.
S.A.M.H.A. board requests that coaches complete the selection process in a fair and just manner. See selection criteria.

Selection Criteria:
Most Dedicated Player
        -has an excellent work ethic in practices and games
        -has a positive impact on the team
        -is coachable
        -respectful to players, coaches and other adults
        -seeks ways to improve his/her game
        -attends practices and games with regularity
    Most Improved Player:
        -has an excellent work ethic in practices and games
        -shows marked improvement throughout the course of the
         year in a variety of hockey skills
        -has a positive impact on the team
        -is coachable
        -respectful to players, coaches and other adults
        -seeks ways to improve his/her game
        -attends practices and games with regularity
    Most Sportsmanlike Player:
        -enjoys the game
        -is an excellent role model on and off the ice
        -shows care and respect for all members of his team, opponents
         and game officials
        -goes that extra step to ensure  teammates are having fun
        -follows through with all team’s expectations
        -plays the game through example
        -has a limited amount of penalty infractions
        -attends practices and games with regularity

The administrator will make arrangements to pre-order the Esso Medals each year.

Adult Awards:
Please send your nominations to Administrator by March 1st.  Final selection will be made by the executive and/or committee.

President’s Award: This is presented to adult who has gone beyond the call of duty to assist the President. Chosen by the President
Volunteer of the Year: Presented to a worthy volunteer who tirelessly assists in team, division or association matters. Again, goes beyond the call of duty.
Can be nominated by any parent, coaching staff or board member. Submit nominations in writing to administrator. Chosen by executive.
Coach of the Year: Presented to a coach who exemplifies the outstanding coaching characteristics both on and off the ice as per SAMHA coaching code of conduct.  A truly unselfish, dedicated individual whose goal is to strive to improve each member of his/her team. Chosen by executive.
Most Dedicated Referee: Chosen by Referee-in-chief and his committee.
Presented to referee who is totally dedicated to doing the best job he/she can do. Is professional, enthusiastic and willing to learn. Upholds the referee code of conduct.
Most Promising Referee: Usually a first year official who shows enthusiasm, dedication and desire to improve his/her game. Willing to learn. Shows marked improvement during the season. Chosen by RIC and committee.
Unsung Hero: Presented to a person, whether player, parent, official or coaching staff who has experienced major setbacks (injuries, personal tragedies, etc) within the  year and continues to support minor hockey in a courageous and dedicated manner. Chosen by executive.
Safety Award: Presented to a person usually involved in the HCSP program or Risk Management area. Ensures the safety of all players is a priority.
Chosen by the executive and Risk Management director.
